Terms of Use

These terms are a contract between you and Mentico Ltd (company number 16510481), registered at 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. Peruse is the name of the service.

You must be 18 or older. Creating an account sends us your acceptance of these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Peruse.

You paste a YouTube link. We fetch the public captions and send them to an AI provider (OpenAI or Anthropic, as configured for the service) to write a summary in Full, Short, or anti-clickbait only. The app shows the summary. You can copy or download a Markdown file of the summary and the transcript.

An account includes history. Pro and Ultimate also include bookmarks. A share link is a public page of the summary and the transcript. It does not expire by itself, and search engines may index it. Deleting that conversation from your history does not take the public page down. The page comes down when you delete your account, or when we remove the link.

Peruse can be installed as a Progressive Web App. Installed, it can receive a YouTube link shared from another app on your device.

Guests can summarize without an account. History, bookmarks, and share links require an account. You are responsible for activity under your account. Keep your password to yourself, and do not share the account.

Give us an accurate name and email. You can delete the account from your profile.

Guest use, signed-in plans, and what each plan includes are described on the pricing page. That page is the reference for allowances, features, and checkout prices. Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe at the price shown there when you subscribe.

A downgrade, including a move to Free, starts on your next bill. You keep the current plan until then.

Cancel in the Stripe billing portal to stop the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. That cancellation does not refund the current period.

If you are a UK consumer, you can cancel a new paid charge by emailing hello@mentico.uk within 14 days of that charge. We refund it from the Stripe dashboard. There is no refund button in Peruse. This is separate from cancelling at the end of the period.

After those 14 days, we do not refund unused days in the current period. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights where the service is not provided with reasonable care and skill.

If we stop a paid plan and you are not in breach, you keep access until the end of the paid period, or we refund the unused part from the Stripe dashboard.

You may not:

• Break the law, or use Peruse to do so
• Circumvent usage limits or security measures
• Scrape, probe, or disrupt the service, or resell access to it
• Use bots or other automated access without our permission
• Share your account

YouTube captions and videos belong to their rights holders. You confirm that your use of a video complies with YouTube's terms and copyright law. Do not publish a share link unless you have the right to make that transcript public.

We may remove a share link, or suspend an account, for a breach of these terms, for non-payment, or where we need to do so to meet a legal risk.

Rights holders who believe a public share page infringes copyright or other rights can ask us to review it. Use the form on the Copyright page or email hello@mentico.uk with the Peruse share URL and a clear description of the work and your claim.

We may remove or disable a share page after a valid request. We are not required to restore a removed page, and removal does not imply that we agree with every claim.

Summaries are generated by AI and can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. They are not medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Check anything important against the video itself.

We do not control YouTube. A video can lose its captions, change, or become unavailable, and then a summary may fail.

The Peruse name, software, and design belong to Mentico Ltd. We do not claim ownership of YouTube captions or of videos.

You give us permission to fetch, store, and send the captions for a video you submit, and to show the summary and transcript as this service describes, including on a share page you publish. That permission ends for account-linked copies when you delete the account. It does not give you rights in the underlying video. An AI summary is provided for your convenience; it does not transfer ownership of the captions or video to you.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any statutory consumer right that cannot legally be limited.

For everything else, our total liability arising out of Peruse in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period, or £50 if you paid nothing.

We post a new version on this page and change the date above. Using Peruse after that date is not, by itself, acceptance of a material change.

If you already have an account, a material change applies only after we email your account address from hello@mentico.uk and name the date it starts. You can cancel a paid plan before that date. A price change applies on the next renewal, and that email says so. A new account is bound by the posted terms when signup sends your acceptance.
