Account Information:

• Password (securely hashed, never stored in plain text)
• Subscription plan and payment identifiers (via Stripe)

Video and Conversation Data:

• YouTube video URLs, titles, and thumbnails
• Video transcripts and AI-generated summaries
• Clickbait ratings assigned to videos
• Video duration and time saved calculations
• Chat conversations and messages about videos
• Bookmark status for saved conversations

Preferences and Usage:

• Language preferences (for transcripts and summaries)
• Answer type preferences (detailed, concise, etc.)
• Clipboard access permission setting
• Credit usage logs and daily limits

Analytics (with consent):

• Usage patterns via PostHog and Vercel Analytics

Cached Data (to improve performance):

• YouTube video metadata (title, thumbnail, duration)
• Video transcripts by language

• YouTube: We fetch publicly available transcripts from YouTube videos you request

• Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")

Peruse offers an optional clipboard access feature that enables a paste button for quickly inserting YouTube URLs. This feature:

• Requires your explicit permission to enable
• Only accesses your clipboard when you click the paste button
• Never reads your clipboard automatically or in the background
• Does not share clipboard data with any third parties

You can enable or disable this feature at any time in your profile settings.

Peruse can be installed on your device as a Progressive Web App (PWA). When installed:

• The app can receive shared YouTube links from other apps on your device
• An offline page is available when you have no internet connection
• Standard browser data (cache, cookies) is stored on your device

Installing the PWA does not grant any additional data access beyond what is described in this policy.

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide our service or as required by law:

• Account data: Retained while your account is active
• Conversation history: Retained while your account is active
• Cached video data: Retained to improve service performance
• Cookie consent: Stored for 12 months

When you delete your account, your personal data and conversation history are permanently removed. Cached video metadata (titles, thumbnails) may be retained as it is not personally identifiable.
